So this is kind of a double post. It started out as a website post, but then evolved into stalking the author of the website and ended up at amazing art. So let me start at the beginning.
Closet Visit is a beautiful site created by Jeana Sohn (pronounced “Gina”). She goes around visiting different creatives in their homes and closets and ask them questions about their work and life. Really beautiful photography and styling. Here are a few shots of Hannah Byun’s closet. She is a sock designer and the owner of Hansel from Basel.
And the second part of the post is about Jeana herself. She was born in Pohang, Korea and makes paintings, sculptures, videos, photos. She is currently living in Los Angeles. Her work just blew me away.
Beautiful new SS12 sporty collection by Swedish Hasbeens, inspired by the 1940s-50s. The range includes a saddle shoe, a driving shoe, beach sandals, bowling boots and more. Love the styling, art direction and everything else about this shoot.
Stills from the Suzaan Heyns short film that was the intro to her Spring/Summer 2012 collection. Directed by Willem Grobler and Director of Photography was David Pienaar
The beautiful new Curio AW 2012 collection of Ginger & Smart. Go and have a look at the rest of the collection. I had a lot of trouble picking my favorites.
QooQoo is a fashion brand led by a graphic designer. They design and produce their own fabrics prints. Each garment is also made on demand and takes about 5-10 working days.
Jessi is an interesting little lady, who love clothes, outfits and colours. And best of all, she never buys anything new. All her clothes are second hand and from thrift stores. Check out the video and then go over to her sweet blog.
Friday me, Wendy and Alettie decided to mission down to good old town to see what it had to offer. We ended up at Fashion Fridays on Juta Street. What a pleasure for the eyes. After that we made a quick stop at 44 Stanley for some food in our bellies. Were we pleased by what awaited us there. Dinner outside, under trees and lanterns, while enjoying the fine tunes of folk/country/Gypsy band Runaway Train. Thanks for a great start to the weekend friends.
Sorry for the absence - had a little bit of admin problems (some paperwork i neglected to send). But I am back and still on the war path against Winter, especially after it decide to come out full Freeze Rays Blazing today. Geeze it is cold in Johannesburg.
My first weapon of choice is colour. I have been tempted to buy brightly coloured pants for quite a while now, and after seeing how amazing these ladies look in their splashes of colour, that pushed my in the direction of the rainbow.
My purse will always be full of coins with a one of these beauties. This is a leather purse designed by Diana Eng. It is made out of recycled leather and each purse has an unique laser etched ID number. These babies comes with their own dust bag and printed fortune inside.
